BAT (Basic Attention Token)
Project basic information
Basic Attention Token (BAT) or BAT is a token that supports a new blockchain-based digital advertising platform designed to fairly distribute user rewards for their attention and interest, as well as to provide advertisers with a higher return on their advertising costs.
This service is provided through the Brave browser, where users can watch ads while maintaining privacy and receiving BAT rewards for them. On the other hand, advertisers have the opportunity to provide targeted advertising to increase engagement and reduce losses due to advertising fraud and advertising abuse.
The Basic Attention Token itself is a unit of remuneration in this advertising ecosystem and serves for settlements between advertisers, publishers, and users. Advertisers pay for their advertising campaigns with BAT tokens. Of this budget, a small part is distributed to advertisers, and 70% is distributed among users — while intermediaries, who usually increase advertising costs, are excluded from the process, which increases profitability.
Basic Attention Token was launched in 2017 after one of the fastest-selling initial coin offerings (ICO), during which the platform raised a total of $35 million in less than a minute.
